Step 1: Schedule an appointment with the provider of Cannabis Card Direct. You may schedule online at www.cannabiscarddirect.com 

Your appointment is quick and easy! Appointments usually take around 10-15 minutes.

Step 2: Consultation with a medical healthcare provider to evaluate your medical ailments for medical cannabis treatment (Please see list of qualifying ailments in Iowa under the About section). Once the appointment is completed, if you are approved, the qualified IA medical healthcare provider will send you a digital copy of your Healthcare Practitioner Certification Form, which indicates approval for the use of medical marijuana in Iowa.

 

Step 3: Apply with the state. Once you receive a copy of your Healthcare Practitioner Certification Form from the doctor, you’ll register with the state online and complete the Online Patient Registration Form. There is an additional $100 state fee that Iowa has in place that you will pay upon submitting your application. You will also need to include a copy of your Healthcare Practitioner Certification Form. If a patient receives government assistance or is experiencing financial hardships and can provide documentation of these hardships, the state fee is reduced to $25. All patients must prove Iowa residency for their application to be accepted by the state. You must be 18 years or older to apply.

• Apply Online - After your healthcare practitioner has signed your Healthcare Practitioner Certification Form, use the online registration system, which can be found  at https://hhs.iowa.gov/medical-cannabis/patient-registration

• The state will process your application and will approve you within 3-5 business days of completing your application. You can then go pick up your card from any DMV or courthouse. 

• Each patient in Iowa will need to be re-certified annually by a licensed qualified medical provider. Cannabis Card Direct will get in touch with you when your certification is approaching its expiration to help you setup a renewal consultation.

Step 4: Now that you have your medical marijuana certification, you can visit dispensaries in Iowa. Please see dispensaries located in Iowa on our website.The patient must renew the certification annually to remain active.
